Don Albrecht lives in Mountain View on the Big Island of Hawaii and he has been a wood turner since 1989. Thirty years ago, Don and his wife Pat made the move to Hawaii. Don personally harvests the wood he uses to make large natural edge turnings. He lets the shape of the log dictate the shape of his wonderful creations and enhances what nature has already started.
Black Wattle was introduced to Hawaii from Australia. Until recently, it thrived but is now being killed by the VOG from the volcanoes. Don lathe-turns these dead tree limbs to make wonderful sculptures like this one.
