Koa is a Hawaiian legacy. We will plant new Koa tree on the behalf of any customer who purchases a piece of our Koa furniture. This is our commitment to the reforestation of Koa in Hawaii. Furthermore, any customer can simply buy the right to have a new Koa tree planted, without buying a piece of furniture, for only $59.00.
These new six inch Koa plants were cultivated from the strongest Koa trees in the area. Each one will be individually hand-planted on the slopes of Mauna Kea, on the island of Hawaii. Dense Koa forests once grew on the lands where the new Koa trees will be planted. This land was also once owned by King Kamehameha I. However, in the last century, these Koa forests were cleared to create cattle pasture land.
Martin & MacArthur is teaming up with Hawaiian Legacy Hardwoods to re-plant Koa trees on 2700 acres in the Hamakua district of Hawaii.
The customer will receive a certificate with the specific Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) and GPS coordinates for this tree, so that you can track it with any web-mapping tool.
The certificate is 8" x 10". We suggest you also purchase a solid Koa frame made by the craftsmen of Martin & MacArthur with Koa wood grown elsewhere on the island of Hawaii.
