We are honored to be the only retailer selling ukulele made by Hawaii luthier Keith Maile.
Keith has been a fan and follower of music arts all his life. Keith is also devoted to woodcrafting. He believes that making fine ukulele is the perfect combination of his two passions. He began making ukulele several years ago under the mentorship of fine luthiers including Joe Souza, Dan Nakanishi, Daniel Westphal, Rollo Schurenbrand, Kyle Nakashima, Sonny Badar, and Michael Chock.
Keith Maile is a recognized native Hawaiian artisan and cultural practitioner. Keith contributed to the recently renovated Hawaiian Hall of the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum, producing a replica pōhaku kuʻi ʻai, or poi pounder, for an interactive exhibit that is a semi-permanent element of the Hall. His community involvement includes teaching classes in traditional Hawaiian arts and cultural traditions at the Kamehameha Schools Kapālama Campus and summer activities by Hawaiian enrichment organizations. Keith is honored to have served as guest lecturer and cultural practitioner for a 400-level Hawaiian language class at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Keith is a member of the Ukulele Guild of Hawai’i.
