Hana Bay by Emily BouvetARTM43103
Emily Bouvet studied History of Art at La Sorbonne University in Paris.
French-American, she grew up between San Diego and Barbizon, a charming villlage in France, famous for its pre-impressionist painters.
She drew her early inspiration from her many travels, starting with Africa and South America bringing back travel logs that got published world wide.
As a teenager, she fell in love with Maui in 1996 during her first trip to the Valley Isle where she has family. Since then she has been painting Hawaiian landscapes, portraits and daily life scenes.
Her paintings refer to a timeless primitive beauty. Gauguin, Le Douanier Rousseau and also Klimt are part of her pantheon.
More than an ocean girl, Emily is a forest girl. The village where she lives is located on the edge of one of the biggest forests in France while her Maui time is spent at her family’s water lily farm in lush Haiku.
Emily's world is poetic, oneiric and haloed in mystery.
