ARTIST BIO

Amy Justen is a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, currently residing in Ha’iku, Hawai’i.  Since her move to Maui in 2012, her fine art projects have focused on our endangered Hawai’ian wildlife and culture. She was a member of Lāhaina Arts Society and served on their Board of Trustees and as Curator for the Banyan Tree and Old Jail Galleries from 2016-18. In 2019 Amy was granted a recognition award from the Hawai'i State Foundation for Culture and the Arts and her work was purchased for the state's permanent collection.  A multi-disciplinary artist, her work in the mediums of painting, drawing, printmaking, video and mixed media were largely destroyed in the tragic fires of August 2023.  As she works to rebuild her portfolio and life, her art continues to speak to the contemporary issues facing Hawai’i today.
