Nanea Moon 3 by Brad HuckARTM43244
A graduate of RMCAD, Brad's upbringing in Colorado was a mix of camping trips and afternoons spent at the family's candy factory. These experiences marked him with respect for the natural world and a belief that humble ingredients blended together with creativity and diligent hands can yield more than the sum of their parts.
Making Maui his home for the past 18 years, the artist is fascinated with the island's many micro-climates and has developed a vast love and respect for the omnipresent ocean that surrounds him. In 2011, Brad created a large-scale painting titled "Awaii" for the exhibition "The Legacy of Land" held at the Schaefer International Gallery. Acknowledgment of "Awaii" prompted an invitation to create a body of work based on the idea of a "deconstructed landscape". The resulting collection of mixed media panels was exhibited on Oahu at The Contemporary Museum the following year.
