“My ʻwhyʻ in life is to create artwork from my adventures, to observe wonder and bring those exhilarating feelings back into my paintings. It brings me incredible joy. I challenge myself to see the awe in nature and celebrate that beauty with my art.
”The poet Mary Oliver gave some great advice on instructions for living a life: Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.
“This is what I believe I am called to do as an artist, to look for the magic in a sunset, a wave crashing, a surfer ready to find the perfect wave; to fully experience and be wowed, and then to tell those stories through my artwork. I love to focus on the simplicity of my surroundings to express the essence of the moment.
”Living on the island of Maui, I am blessed to be surrounded by beautiful scenery and have the opportunity to share my art with the local community. I strive to translate the amazing vibes of the Hawaiian ocean, beaches and rivers into my oil paintings and pastels.
“Since the time I could pick up a crayon as a little girl, I have been fascinated with color and creating art. I attended Art Center courses, and went on to earn my BA degree in Fine Art at UCLA. I now specialize in oils and pastels. I’m a member of the Lahaina Arts Society and the Pastel Society of America. Iʻm very proud to call Lahaina home!”
