Koa Wood Sculpture "Pacific Sojourn" by Craig Nichols
Koa Wood Sculpture "Pacific Sojourn" by Craig Nichols
SKU:SEAC47290C
Award winning sculptor and designer Craig Nichols enjoys working with all the Hawaiian hardwoods, particularly Koa. In carving his one of kind pieces, Craig endeavors to create and enhance what nature has already suggested.
Craig began his woodworking journey as a teenager when a neighbor asked him to make a Reindeer out of a 12" long branch of a tree. After that, his passion for woodwork was sealed.
Craig has a unique perspective and understanding of the harmony and subtleties that exist in nature between the species. Craig and his wife Kay reside on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Craig has been inspired by the ocean all his life, both as a world class surfer, and commercial fisherman living on the Big Island. He creates unique and beautiful sea sculptures from the exquisite hardwoods found here in Hawaii.
Craig only uses Big Island Koa milled from dead or fallen trees. As a rule, Craig never uses Koa cut from live trees.
