Our craftsmen designed the Stevenson table to showcase the stunning curly Koa from our private stock. None better. Measuring a generous 105-inches without any leaves, this gutsy table can easily seat 10 family members. Our Stevenson table has 2 trestles supported by a longitudinal cross-member.
This dining table was named after Robert Louis Stevenson, the famed American author who visited Hawaii two in 1889 and 1893. King David Kalakaua, Queen Liliuokalani, and Princess Kaiulani hosted Stevenson to elaborate banquets which are commemorated by our large banquet table made by our Hawaii craftsmen.
On his last visit to Hawaii, Stevenson stayed at the famed Sans Souci hotel just at the foot of Diamond Head. Stevenson’s love of Hawaii is captured in his writing:
“If anyone desire such old-fashioned things as lovely scenery, quiet, pure air, clear sea water, good food and heavenly sunsets hung out before their eyes over the Pacific … I recommend him cordially to the ‘Sans Souci.”
